Overview

Helping small labs build pathways to sustainability.

About us.

The Lab Project (TLP) is a non-profit
organization with a mission to make laboratory
sustainability more accessible. Founded to
provide pro bono consulting services to small,
growing laboratories in the life sciences,
biotechnology, and pharmaceutical industries,
we faciliate access to financial and advising
resources that are specifically dedicated to
achieving sustainable research operations.

Our team.

Our small but mighty team has led the
development of laboratory efficiency
programs in the utility industry, and is a part of
local and national organizations dedicated to
green laboratory practices. We leverage our
expertise, trusted partnerships, and long-held
professional relationships to realize a
sustainability plan that empowers your lab.

Let’s
collaborate.

Our process.

1 TLP works with your team to identify opportunities
for increased conservation and efficiency.

2 We develop a tailored plan for adjustments to your
lab practices in both the short and long-term.

We offer hands-on support in implementing these
3 steps, providing resources, recommendations,

and coordination with other industry partners.

Our services.

Energy-efficiency

From freezers to fume hoods, biosafety cabinets to
microscopy, we’re here to advise on best equipment
and practices.

Water conservation

We’ll work with you to identify and adjust your
water-intensive processes, looking at your autoclaves,
aerators, and more.

Green chemistry

We’ll support you through processes of chemical
inventory, substitution, and reducing chemical waste.

Recycling and waste reduction

We’ll find disposal strategies that fit your lab’s workflow.

Green behavior

Whether it’s switches in small daily behaviors or
implementing periodic maintenance practices, we’ll
help you integrate these changes, and keep you on
track long-term.
