The Massachusetts Biotechnology Council added six life sciences executives to its board of directors last week: LAUREN CELANO, founder and CEO of Propel Careers; DENNIS HUANG, chief technical operations officer and executive vice president for gene therapy at Ultragenyx; MICHAEL LUTHER, global head of search and evaluation in business development at Astellas; Vertex Pharmaceuticals vice president for external and community affairs STACIA REIDY MacNAUGHT; Thermo Fisher Scientific senior vice president MICHAEL SHAFER; and JENNIFER WIPF, head of commercial at Ginkgo Bioworks. “These men and women bring diverse perspectives that will help our ecosystem navigate the years ahead, and with our full Board, chart a bold course that grows the industry and keeps us looking beyond,” MassBIO CEO Kendalle Burlin O’Connell said. MassBio also picked a new vice chair for its executive committee, TAMAR THOMPSON of Alexion / AstraZeneca, and a new clerk, JEFF ELTON of ConcertAI. Empiriko CEO Pam Randhawa remains the board chair. “Our unique Massachusetts ecosystem continues to unlock scientific possibilities and growth despite a challenging environment,” Randhawa said.
