It is so helpful to work with Tom as he assures us that we are not alone. MassBio’s Open Letter 2.0 – The CEO Pledge for a More Equitable and Inclusive Life Sciences Industry
MassBio’s Open Letter 2.0 serves as a call to action for CEOs across the life sciences to create change within their respective organizations and is a critical component of MassBio’s expanded equity, diversity, and inclusion (ED&I) initiative rolled out earlier this year.
By signing this letter, a CEO recognizes that racial inequity exists in the life sciences industry and in his/her company and is taking responsibility to fix that injustice through comprehensive ED&I initiatives that are broad in scope, specific in action, and measurable in results. The pledge is a long-term commitment dedicated to moving the industry forward over the next several years. The more than 220 CEOs that signed the letter represent small and emerging biotechs, midsized companies, and large biopharmaceutical companies.
Bioversity – Your diverse workforce pipeline
Launched by MassBio in 2023, Bioversity is a new Massachusetts incorporated non-profit formed to make the whole of the life sciences workforce development landscape more efficient; allowing people from underserved communities to find jobs faster and employers to have easier access to a broader and more diverse talent pipeline.
Alongside the opening of the Bioversity lab and classroom space in Dorchester, a predominantly black neighborhood in Boston, Bioversity will be launching its inaugural certificate training program in January 2024. Open to those with a high school degree or a GED, this free 8-week program aims to provide graduates with a clear pathway toward a rewarding entry-level career in scientific operations roles at local life sciences companies.
